DANTE (a trade mark of Audinate) is a system to use Ethernet/IP networks for professional audio networks. You do not mess around anymore with different audio cables, instead you use your Ethernet Network with Ethernet/IP Switches, the same used for your Internet access or Intranet - and all is fine.

ETH Network Audio is the implementation of this network audio with small embedded processors, e.g. STM32F7, ARM Cortex M7, without a need for for heavy and expensive hardware boards

ETH Network Audio is based on the Lyrebird APP, the Audio Processing Platform (APP).

What is Lyrebird APP?

Lyrebird APP is a portable Audio Processing Platform (APP) which is based on ARM Cortex M7 or Raspberry Pi processors and provides these features:

• audio input as: AES3, SPDIF, TOSLINK, I2S, LineIn, USB, MIC, SDCard, Network
• audio output as: AES3, SPDIF, TOSLINK, LineOut, Headphone, I2S, Network
• clock generation (high accurate PLL and Word Clock In and Out, clock reference via GPS atomic clock)
• portable and LCD Touch Control, e.g. for spectrum (FFT), config, control, filter selection, filter parameters etc.
• small and portable (USB powered)
• audio processing such as filtering, equalizer, Dynamic Range Extender, even possible to incorporate audio filter code generated by MATLAB

What does Lyrebird APP in ETH Audio networks?

• it discovers where is the network audio streamed (IP, UDP port, audio format)
• it connects with one of the audio streams
• it monitors the audio stream
• it displays the audio parameters, displays the spectrum (FFT), the VU, dynamic range etc.
• it forwards the audio to other output interfaces such as SPDIF, TOSLIK, AES3, LineOut, Headphone, so it acts as a network audio excractor
• it filters, upsamples (Sample Rate Conversion) the audio and much more, all you can come accross with your audio ...
• it is an egress device in ETH network networks (network audio out to any interface), in future also a full compliant participant, e.g. to act also as an ingress device, have access to ETH network auudio networks, e.g. as USB-to-ETH network audio, connect legacy source to network audio, to be disccovered (see it as ETH network audio network device), to act as audio proecssing engine inside the network (processing engine) or as clock master with its high-acccurate clock reference and features such as GPS Disciplined Clock to sync all audio devices with it ...
